Women are already generating real AI value, but organizations lack the systems to capture, measure, credit, and communicate it to leadership.

Senior operators, several in IT roles, agreed that the barrier to AI value is not usage but recognition and measurement. One described a team quietly building AI agents that leadership had never heard about, a sign that real value is being created invisibly. The group pressed a distinction that matters for every executive: usage counts are not value. What leadership needs is a ledger of business outcomes, tracked from the start of the year, and a clear story connecting human contribution to results. One operator offered a four-part reporting framework: problem, AI usage, human contribution, business outcome. Another described a tiered enablement program that begins mandatory training with C-level and VPs before wider rollout, signaling that leadership buy-in must come first. A recurring concern was that women's AI contributions go uncredited, which operators framed as a sponsorship and attribution problem requiring deliberate capture mechanisms. Storytelling emerged as a strategic lever, especially telling the stories of people who will not promote themselves. The practical takeaway for executives is twofold. First, measure AI by value delivered, not by adoption metrics. Second, build systems that make hidden work visible and credited, or risk losing the talent already driving results. Adoption maturity varied widely, with at least one participant still trying to get AI usage off the ground.
