People approve AI outputs without real review, so the control most firms rely on is decorative. The fix they named is specific training on how to evaluate AI outputs, not just a policy on paper. Compliance maturity varies sharply. Some firms enforce strict rules while others operate as a wild west, but all want a trained evaluator and clear rules that protect both the company and the people using the tools. Two quieter risks surfaced. First, AI skills and refined prompts are held by individuals and walk out the door when employees leave, leaving the organization without institutional memory. Second, employees are turning to AI for mental health support and even relationships, while that sensitive data is owned by the vendor or the business. Few firms have addressed who can access it or their duty of care. Taken together, the discussion signals a gap between confidence in oversight and the reality of how AI is used day to day. Executives should stop treating one-click approval as review, capture AI knowledge as an organizational asset, and set explicit policy on sensitive and personal use of company tools before scaling further.
