Operators are treating AI as a powerful but fallible tool, keeping humans accountable and inventing their own consent and transparency norms to protect stakeholder trust.

Senior operators across healthcare and technology described AI as a power tool that accelerates work but does not remove human accountability. One IT leader used AI to audit a legacy stack with 17-year-old components; where human review found 790 vulnerabilities, AI surfaced 3,800. That gain came with a warning: each finding still needs human triage and guardrails. A recurring theme was trust. One operator argued AI works best when invisible to the customer, and that visible AI can damage relationships. He proposed a cookie-style consent prompt letting stakeholders opt out, plus clear disclosure of when and why AI is used, and a signed code of conduct for staff. These are consent norms being built ahead of regulation. Healthcare operators drew a firm line: AI is fine for internal care workflow, but chatbots for patient health education raise hallucination risk they will not accept. Advisors also flagged an unsolved problem. Users without basic AI understanding are more exposed to AI content, and no one in the room had a fix. Together these points show practitioners moving past hype into practical limits. They want AI embedded quietly, governed clearly, disclosed honestly, and always checked by a human. The gap between AI's discovery power and an organization's capacity to act on it, and the literacy gap among ordinary users, are the two risks operators named most openly.
