Operators say AI value is already being created but goes unmeasured, unreported, and uncredited because firms lack systems to capture and communicate it.

Senior operators, mostly women in IT and cross-functional roles, converged on a shared problem: AI work is happening but organizations cannot see, measure, or credit it. One leader described a team building AI agents that executives never knew existed. That invisibility is both a recognition problem and a governance gap. The group agreed the decisive issue is not whether AI is used, but whether the value it generates can be articulated. Usage metrics mislead; without narratives connecting human contribution to business outcome, AI work stays unproven and uncredited. Operators are improvising fixes. Several described ad hoc ROI tracking, including year-start lists and running ledgers of improvements, an admission that disciplined measurement does not yet exist even in engaged teams. One offered a concrete leadership pitch structure: problem, AI usage, human contribution, business outcome, tailored to the audience. Another firm is rolling out tiered enablement with mandatory training, starting at C-level and moving down, a sign that adoption still needs top-down push. The through-line for executives: the bottleneck is no longer capability or willingness to use AI. It is the absence of systems that capture work in progress, measure its value, and communicate that value upward. Firms that build those systems will convert scattered activity into demonstrable outcomes and give credit where it is due.
