Senior operators are moving from AI enthusiasm to earned skepticism, demanding source verification, measurable results, and independence from tools before trusting them in operations.

Across three breakout discussions, senior women leaders from varied industries voiced a maturing, skeptical view of AI adoption. One operator questioned whether AI often repackages capability that already existed, urging buyers to demand proof of genuinely new value. Another warned that decisions are being made too fast on AI outputs whose sources are undocumented, since a confident-sounding answer is not necessarily accurate. Verification is lagging behind confidence. Several leaders described genuine hesitancy to adopt AI because of the environmental cost of data centers, a tension between usefulness and impact that now acts as a real brake on adoption. On measurement, an operator pressed for documented use cases, measurable business results, and consistent reporting before any tool is allowed to run operations. Enthusiasm alone is not enough to earn a place in the workflow. Another leader stressed that users must understand how AI works and retain the ability to function without it, warning that ignorance of the back end breeds dependency and disconnect. Maturity varied widely: one operator's company had built its own internal AI with a dedicated implementation team, while others were still weighing whether to use it at all.
