AI value is often created invisibly in small behind the scenes tasks, so organizations struggle to measure, credit, and sustain the work.

This discussion among workplace operators focused less on AI capability and more on who gets credit for it. A recurring theme was that much AI work happens quietly, applied to small routine tasks rather than visible flagship projects. As a result, the productivity gains and the people driving them go unmeasured and unrecognized. Operators described a gap between adoption and attribution. A board of directors was pushing for more AI integration, yet the internal structures to reward good use were missing. Participants proposed an AI scorecard covering both initiation and implementation, arguing people should be credited for how AI is used, not just whether it is present. They also flagged a generational divide, with older staff described as less comfortable embracing AI than younger colleagues. Documentation work, often assumed to be handled by certain team members, was cited as a place where templates and AI setup create lasting value that goes unacknowledged. For executives, the signal is clear. AI mandates from the top can outpace the recognition and measurement systems needed to sustain them. Tracking where AI is actually used, crediting the people behind it, and measuring the quality of use rather than mere adoption are practical next steps. Without these, organizations risk driving adoption while losing sight of who creates the value and how.
