Operators are moving fast on AI adoption but lack ways to verify output, standardize governance, and measure and credit the value being created.

Senior women leaders across manufacturing, healthcare, automotive, and technology described AI adoption running ahead of the controls that should support it. The sharpest tension was an expertise paradox: verifying AI output demands expertise, yet the people most eager to use AI in unfamiliar areas cannot judge whether outputs are correct. A safety-products supplier extended this to brakes and test data, where unverified output carries physical and legal risk. Several described a two-speed workforce, with fast adopters outpacing governance while others' productivity expectations outrun their real capability, seeding future performance problems. A technology operator warned that agents built a year ago are already obsolete, turning agent work into recurring cost rather than one-time investment. Healthcare surfaced a novel demand-side pressure: patients using AI to generate privacy and legal requests they do not understand, flooding the organization. Finally, operators debated why AI work in female-led departments like HR draws less notice than finance, and could not agree whether the cause was weaker self-promotion or genuinely less measurable value. Across these, the common gap is measurement and verification. Executives should treat validation, governance standardization, and value measurement as prerequisites, not afterthoughts. Budget for agent obsolescence, restrict high-stakes use to domain experts, and build shared methods to quantify and credit AI contributions before adoption outpaces the ability to manage it.
